My wife and I have three children who all attend Davison schools, we own a business in the community, I am very involved in community activities, board meetings, etc., and I sit on the board for the Davison Area Chamber Of commerce. One of our daughters is special needs and special-needs. Education is very important to me and something that I would like to learn more about as well as focus on If elected

How would you engage and include parents, caregivers, community members and students in decision-making in your district around things like curriculum, budgeting and district policy?

I am very approachable And willing to talk to anyone to get all sides of any issues before making decisions. I would welcome any community member student teacher, parent, etc. to reach out to me with any questions or concerns and if I don’t know the answer, I will do my best to put them in contact with the correct person. I would also invite parents guardians community members, etc., to show up at school board meetings and get involved.

What are your thoughts on school discipline and the way it is exercised in your school district? What are your thoughts on restorative practices?

I think school discipline is important and should include mentorships, Counseling, as well as other things like suspension or expulsion when necessary after other options have been exhausted. I 100% believe in second chances and working with students to restore them When appropriate and safe for all involved.

What are your thoughts on how to improve student mental health

I think access to counselors, materials and programs, Outdoor time, Access to the suicide prevention line, which I’m happy that is on our students Id’s are all a great start And I would like to research it more in the future.

What are your thoughts on ways to improve Black student achievement in your district and in Michigan schools overall?

I think by using data driven decision make for programs such as mentorship, family and community building and support, , Programs such as free and reduced lunch, and early intervention just to name a few would be a great start

What are your thoughts on how to ensure that all students and their families, regardless of race, gender identity, sexuality, disability, religion, income status, etc., feel safe and included in your district?

I think by having safe reporting mechanisms for bullying is a good start, even confidential if necessary. I Think classes for staff and teachers on disabilities and inclusion as well as counseling services are also very important

What are your thoughts on how to recruit and retain staff, particularly staff of color, in your district with regard to pay, benefits, and working conditions?

I think staff retention is very key as is payroll and having a good work environment, this is some thing outside of my expertise and something I am willing to learn more about in the position.
