Brief Intro of Candidate
I'm a veteran retired, Born and raised in Macomb County, attended Clintondale schools, graduated in 1982. Served my country for 20 yrs., in the Army, then decide to give back by teaching Army JROTC in the Pontiac school district for 20 yrs. after retiring, I decided to give back by serving my community on the school board. It's an honor to be on the board, and to hopefully be reelected again. I love my community, and look forward to serving it.

How would you engage and include parents, caregivers, community members and students in decision-making in your district around things like curriculum, budgeting and district policy?
Keep an open door policy for all in the community. Listen to their needs, and make the best decision for our children. Encourage our family s to stay in the district by taken care of their kids.
What are your thoughts on school discipline and the way it is exercised in your school district? What are your thoughts on restorative practices?
I think the discipline in our district is fair to all children, and that's all you can do.
What are your thoughts on how to improve student mental health
Listen, pay attention, and support those that's having mental issues. stay ahead by having the right professional on your staff.
What are your thoughts on ways to improve Black student achievement in your district and in Michigan schools overall?
provide the same opportunities and schools others that's not black have. Hire strong leader for leadership positions.
What are your thoughts on how to ensure that all students and their families, regardless of race, gender identity, sexuality, disability, religion, income status, etc., feel safe and included in your district?
It starts in the communities, if it's safe in their communities, kids will come to school with that behavior, and the few that goes off the track, your able to weed them out, and get them help before it's too late. Police, Security, and strong-minded teachers that demands safety at all times
What are your thoughts on how to recruit and retain staff, particularly staff of color, in your district with regard to pay, benefits, and working conditions?
First, you have to try and hire some, they would love to work in my school district. Second, the state has to ensure teachers are paid a salary that can take care of their family.
